Be the Change!

You hear it every day in the news that Americans are not satisfied about the direction of our nation. My feeling is that if you really asked American about what the right direction is, you would get vastly different answers.

One thing that is certain though is Americans do want change.

"Change" has become a loaded word since Barak Obama adopted it as the mantle of his campaign, but while the American people are busy trying to figure out what Obama means by "change," many of them have not thought about the simple fact that change does not come out of Washington, D.C. Real change in America has never started in the hallowed halls of Congress or from the White House Rose Garden.

Real change has always begun around the family dinner table, in our neigborhoods and communities. Changes begins whereever American citizens gather together and decide what kind of community they want to live in, and then take action to make their vision a reality.

President George H. W. Bush once said, "A volunteer is a person who can see what others cannot see; who can feel what most do not feel. Often, such gifted persons do not think of themselves as volunteers, but as citizens - citizens in the fullest sense: partners in civilization."

In 2008, Republican Hands is encouraging all Americans, not just Republicans, to BE THE CHANGE!

Change doesn't come from the top down, but from the bottom up. It calls from the grassroots for our leaders to act, not for our leadership to tell us, "this is the change that's going to be."

In this election year, find a way to give back to your fellow Americans who are in need.

Ronald Reagan once said, "No matter how big and powerful government gets, and the many services it provides, it can never take the place of volunteers. "

Founding Father Benjamin Franklin said, "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for someone else."

Let us change America, one individual at a time, and maybe by Election Day, we will have found the power to change America's direction not in the government, but in ourselves.

Welcome to Republican Hands

Republican Hands taps into the grassroots Republican volunteer network to serve our communities . . . as Republicans. Through our efforts we hope to silently, through our service, communicate the Republican message that it is up to each and every citizen to give of themself to make our communities better, not wait on the government.

Republicans have always worked hard as community volunteers, believing in the work of countless selfless individuals to bring home the message that each of us holds in ourselves the power to be great because each of us has the power to serve with warmth, compassion, and dedication.

Through a service-based approach, Republican Hands promotes these values at the local level, showing our communities that Republicans work hard to improve their communities every day of the year and not just on Election Day. Republicans understand real community change does not begin in Washington, D.C., but in neighborhoods across our nation.
