About Republican Hands

Our mission at Republican Hands is to partner the vast volunteer base of the Republican Party, its organization and its candidates with the non-profit, community service organizations that are constantly in need of volunteers.

The Republican Party has long held that the, “government that governs best is the one that governs least.”

Ronald Reagan once said that the most frightening words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Republicans believe that it is up to individuals to care for the individual needs of our neighbors, not the government’s. It’s in this spirit of renewed volunteerism that Republican Hands, Inc. was founded in June 2008.

The goal is not necessarily to recruit new volunteers for the party or turn the vital need of service into another chance to politick, but to engage and foster a renewed spirit of volunteerism in the Grand Old Party.

Republican Hands will make a difference in communities in these ways:

  1. Make tangible contributions to increase the visibility of Republicans at the local level. We want to show our neighbors that Republicans do not just talk the talk, but we also walk the walk. Most Republicans already engage in long hours of community service each month, but through Republican Hands, we will be able to easily partner with old friends and colleagues from Republican organizations and make new friend along the way. The idea is not to preach the Republican message, but to show it in our individual labor.

  1. Engage the grassroots volunteer during non-election years to keep people active and involved. People get involved in politics for many reasons, not least of which is a strong desire to serve their community and make things better for where they live. Republican participation goes down in non-election years and it is always a struggle to bring those folks back when it’s election season again. Through community service we can actively keep people involved in election years and the years in between.

  1. Foster a renewed sense of service and serving among Republicans. Most Republicans know that before you can lead, you must be willing to serve. Republican Hands will help rekindle that spirit of community service and social revival that will benefit all Americans, not just Republicans.
